The planned centre of excellence
The centre of excellence aims to …
- be the first point of contact in Austria for all children with a suspected neurological injury, so that this can be clarified quickly.
- offer “Early Intervention”. An individual, evidence-based intensive therapy programme from the 4th month of life until at least the age of 3 – twice a year for at least 3 weeks – for maximum success.
- then ensure an annual rehab programme with a health check up to the age of 18, and beyond that offer career and life counselling and orientation for adulthood.
- offer interdisciplinary medical treatment, comprehensive intensive therapy and orthopaedic care in one place.
- in one-to-one therapy, relieve individual complaints and limitations, prevent or treat secondary conditions, relieve pain, improve or maintain mobility and prevent or correct joint malpositions; promote cognitive development through early physical intervention.
- guide and support parents and help them coordinate continuing and ongoing treatment at home.
- be internationally connected and attract international medical staff, conduct research, offer training and drive standardisation of therapy quality. Proximity to Vienna is therefore particularly important.
- be a quiet and positive place in green surroundings, with generous outdoor areas for children.
- be a place of excellence!
